THUNDER BAY -- Local forest firefighters continue to fight a fire near the city.

Thunder Bay Fire No. 26 was reported Tuesday in the municipality of Shuniah, about 25 kilometres east of the city.

The fire is about five kilometres north of the TransCanada Highway.

Ministry of Natural Resources ground crews were brought in to attack the blaze, but no waterbombers were used.

MNR ground crews needed to be brought in by air as there is no road access to where the fire is. Those firefighters spent the night in the bush fighting the blaze.

As of 6 p.m. Tuesday the fire was about 4 hectares in size, and was listed as being "not under control."
