THUNDER BAY – Local Moose Lodge members finally have an answer as to why the Moose Hall was closed so suddenly.

During a closed door meeting Monday evening, members were reportedly told that the closure was in relation to "legal troubles" surrounding a single member.

Meeting organizers told Dougall Media that the meeting was held to provide information to membership and any decisions would be made in the coming weeks, but declined any further comment.

A few members in attendance, who all wished to remain anonymous, said they were informed that legal issues surrounding a single member motivated the closure and that the decision came from the international level of the Moose Lodge.

According to the meeting attendees, they spoke up against what they called punishing the group for the actions of an individual.

They were reportedly told that there is a possibility that the Moose Hall could open again in two weeks.

The Moose Lodge shut its doors suddenly last month, resulting in the cancellation or relocation of planned events, including pickle ball sessions and the Empty Bowls Caring Hearts dinner.
