EAR FALLS, ONt. -- In the third case of its kind in less than a month, the Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry is investigating the abandonment of a moose carcass after the removal of the animal's tongue and nose.

The latest incident was discovered by conservation officers on Oct. 18 northeast of Ear Falls.

According to the MNRF, a bull moose was shot and abandoned in the Slate Lake area, near kilometre marker 70 on Wenasaga Road.

Its nose and tongue had been cut off but the rest of the animal was left to spoil.

As in the case of the two prior incidents—on the South Bay Mine Road, also northeast of Ear Falls,  and on the Vermillion River road northwest of Sioux Lookout—the ministry is appealing to any member of the public with knowledge of this case to contact its TIPS line at 1-877-847-7667 or Crime Stoppers anonymously.
