Motorist crashes into grader, faces impaired charges

A 51-year-old man was arrested on Saturday morning after police observed obvious signs of impairment.

THUNDER BAY — A collision between a vehicle and a city-owned grader has led to impaired charges being laid against the vehicle's driver.

Thunder Bay Police, in a release issued on Monday, said the incident took place in the area of Hudson Avenue and Shuniah Street, just after 2:30 a.m. on March 29.

The vehicle in question had driven into the back of the grader.

According to police, officers were able to speak to the driver of the vehicle and noticed obvious signs of impairment. The driver was arrested and taken into custody for further assessment.

A 51-year-old man, who police did not name, was charged with impaired operation of a vehicle and operation of a motor vehicle while impaired, blood-alcohol concentration 80 plus.

The accused was released and will face a future court appearance date.
