Motorist faces impaired driving charges

The accused will appear in court next month.

THUNDER BAY – A 50-year-old from Slate Falls has been charged with impaired driving.

On Saturday morning, officers from the Thunder Bay detachment of the OPP were dispatched to a traffic complaint on Highway 589 in the Township of Gorham.

A traffic stop was initiated once the vehicle was located. It was determined that the driver had been consuming alcoholic beverages.

The driver was placed under arrest and returned to the detachment for further tests.

As a result of the investigation, the 50-year-old was charged with operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus) and operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs.

The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Thunder Bay on Oct. 23.
