UPDATE: The bridge has since been cleared and traffic has resumed

FORT WILLIAM FIRST NATION – Motorists are being advised to avoid an icy James Street Swing Bridge.

The Fort William First Nation First Response team on Thursday, in a Facebook post, said the bridge is extremely unsafe to cross in its current state.

“There is hard packed snow and ice formed on the bridge that will cause your vehicle to be unstable and possibly hit the guard rails,” the post reads.

The post goes on to say that if anyone needs to cross the bridge they should slow down to five kilometres per hour.

“These conditions will most likely persist for the next few days, so please be cautious.”
