THUNDERBAY -- As the snow continues to fall in the region, skiing and snowboarding enthusiasts are priming their equipment in anticipation of the opening of area ski hills, but some have already tested out the slopes.
After Friday’s storm the new owners of Mount Baldy Ski area shot a video and after being posted online Monday, it has attracted almost 10,000 views.
Mount Baldy owner Daniel Kardas said he's excited for the public to see what they've done to the ski area.
“We decided finally after the two months of all of us working our butts off, that we’d take Sunday and make it a fun day,” Kardas said.
“We all went out there, I got in the old groomer, got the old 70’s groomer all fixed up, everyone jumped in the back and boom there we were. I packed the hill and we all had a blast.”
Kardas added they have a lot planned for the area, with new features both inside the chalet and outside on the trails.
They hope to open for the season within the next two weeks.
