Thunder Bay-Superior Northerners media release

THUNDER BAY- The Honourable Patty Hajdu, Member of Parliament for Thunder Bay-Superior North, is excited to announce Thunder Bay-Superior Northerners, a new way to celebrate the accomplishments of the people of Thunder Bay-Superior North and Canada 150.

From now until July 31, people are encouraged to make their nominations by submitting a short write-up and a photo, no more than 300 words, or video (under one minute) answering the question "Why is your nominee a Thunder Bay-Superior Northerner?"

"We're looking for anyone who makes a difference in our riding and anyone who strives to make it a better place.

It could be a lifelong volunteer; it could be a student who's excelling in a certain subject or an artist who is a great ambassador for our region.

I'm hoping for a diverse group of nominees to highlight the diversity and strength of Thunder Bay-Superior North," Hajdu said.

Hajdu will post submissions on her social media channels with the hashtag #SuperiorNortherners.

Thirty of them will be selected, by a committee of community members, to receive a special Canada 150 pin made from the original copper roof of the Parliament Buildings at a special ceremony later this summer.

Twelve will also be featured in a Thunder Bay-Superior Northerners calendar next year.

Nominees must be constituents of Thunder Bay-Superior North.

"Members of Parliament were given these amazing pins as part of our government's Canada 150 celebrations. For me, these pins will be a great way to show ourselves and the rest of the country how strong, creative, compassionate and talented Thunder Bay-Superior North can be," Hajdu said.

Submissions can be made to [email protected]. Visit the Facebook page for more information. Nominate. Share. Celebrate!
