THUNDER BAY - Fire crews were kept busy on Friday after multiple reports of structural fires occurred over a 24-hour period.

According to Thunder Bay Fire Rescue, crews were called to a garage fire on the 500 block of Empire Avenue that caused moderate damage to the structure.

In a separate incident, a 10 by 10 shed was destroyed by fire on Broadway Avenue early Friday evening, which caused nearby trees to also catch fire.

Fire crews also responded to reports of a fire at an apartment complex on Tupper Street. Crews discovered smouldering couch cushions that filled the six-unit building with smoke.

A fourth call was received on Friday, but turned out to be a false alarm.

Fire crews, who faced challenging conditions in the cold temperatures, quickly extinguished all the fires. There were no reports of injuries at any of the calls.
