THUNDER BAY — Provincial police collected a significant amount of suspected illegal drugs during a recent bust in the city.
Officers with OPP's organized crime unit and NAPS (Nishnawbe-Aski Police Service) intelligence unit brought a search warrant to a home in Thunder Bay.
On March 5, officers raided a home and collected a large quantity of what police believe to be illicit drugs, including cocaine, oxycodone, methamphetamine, MDMA, hydromorphone, clonazepam, morphine, buprenorphine, methylphenidate and diazepam, as well as Canadian cash.
Police estimate the street value of the drugs collected is $32,000.
Two people have been charged as a result of the investigation.
A 33-year-old man from Thunder Bay is facing four drug and weapons charges and was remanded into custody.
A 31-year-old Atikokan man is facing three trafficking charges and was released with a future court date.
The OPP asks that anyone with information regarding the illegal possession and trafficking of drugs contact their non-emergency number or provide an anonymous tip through Crime Stoppers.
It is Newswatch policy not to name people facing criminal accusations when we are unlikely to follow the case to its conclusion in the courts.
