TORONTO -- Often-injured Thunder Bay goaltender Matt Murray has re-signed with Toronto after filing for unrestricted free agency.
Murray, who won Stanley Cups with Pittsburgh in 2016 and 2017, spent most of 2023-24 on the sidelines, playing just three games for the American Hockey League's Toronto Marlies at the tail end of the season. He went 1-2-0 with a 4.03 goals against average and an .846 save percentage.
Murray was traded to Toronto from Ottawa two years ago and played just 26 games for the Leafs in 2022-23, when he sported a 14-8-1 record with a 3.01 goals against average and a .903 save percentage.
Over his eight-year NHL career, the 30-year-old Murray, a third round pick of the Pittsburgh Penguins in 2012, has a 146-86-24 record with a 2.79 goals against average and a .910 save percentage.
According to TSN, Murray's deal is for one year and is worth $875,000.
The Leafs on Monday also signed goaltender Joseph Woll to a three-year, $10.98-million deal, and former Florida Panthers goaltender Anthony Stolarz to a two-year, $5-million contract.
