NEWMARKET, ON – A man previously alleged to have sold a potentially poisonous chemical to people at risk of suicide, including an individual in Thunder Bay, now faces 14 counts of second-degree murder.

Multiple media sources including CTV News reported Monday that the new charges against Kenneth Law, 58, were filed Monday in the Ontario Court of Justice in Newmarket.

The Mississauga man was charged earlier this year with 14 counts of counselling or aiding suicide by selling a product that can be used for self-harm.

The charges were laid after a multi-jurisdictional investigation involving 11 law enforcement agencies including the Thunder Bay Police Service.

The victims were identified as Ontario residents, both male and female, between 16 and 36 years old.

At the time the initial charges were laid, police said these individuals were believed to have consumed a chemical compound purchased from an online company owned by Law.

Products were also allegedly distributed to people in over 40 countries.

Law has denied the charges against him, and the allegations have not been proven in court.

The new developments in the case are expected to be made public by police at a news conference on Tuesday.

Anyone at risk of self-harm can get help by dialing 988 at any time.
