New COVID-19 cases in Rainy River district

Four new cases announced by Northwestern Health Unit Saturday, with 13 active in its catchment area according to provincial data

RAINY RIVER, Ont. – COVID-19 cases continue to rise in the Rainy River district, with the Northwestern Health Unit announcing four new confirmed cases there Saturday.

There were already six active cases in the Rainy River region according to the most recently updated NWHU data, from Dec. 23.

The health unit had also announced three new cases in its Kenora region on Friday.

According to provincial data on Saturday, there were 13 active cases in the health unit’s catchment area.

The health unit reported its first death attributed to COVID-19 on Dec. 23, saying it involved an elderly individual with pre-existing conditions.
