THUNDER BAY — The city's separate school board has a new director of education.
The Thunder Bay Catholic District School Board has named Jean-Paul Tennier to the post, effective July 15.
He succeeds Pino Tassone who's just retired after 10 years on the job.
Tennier's career includes 26 years in educational leadership roles.
He served as superintendent of education for the past decade, and has also been a teacher, vice-principal at St. Ignatius High School, and principal at Pope John Paul II Senior Elementary School.
In a statement, he said he's honoured and humbled to be named director of education.
"I look forward to working collaboratively with staff, students, families and the community to continue the board's commitment to providing a faith-based, high-quality education that prepares students for a successful future."
Board chair Tony Romeo said Tennier's extensive background in education "and passion for student success aligns with our board's mission to inspire and cultivate the spiritual and academic growth of our students."
