THUNDER BAY -- Meanwhile, a new $1.5 million subdivision on the Fort William First Nation is almost complete.
The residents should be moving in before the end of the year, once the selection process is complete.
Chief Peter Collins said families will be scored based off the criteria in the housing portfolio, such as how many members are in the families and where they are living now.
Larger families will be given higher scores. The eight new homes should be filled before the end of the year.
“We are targeting Nov. 1,” Collins said.
“Hopefully that stays on course, there’s a few little things we will have to get through to get to that time frame, but I think in all reality that will happen.”
The project located off Little Lake Road got underway on May 9.
There's room for 13 more houses in the subdivision, and Collins said those will be built during future construction seasons.
