The newly constructed highway lanes near the Terry Fox Lookout are open to traffic.
Five kilometres of new highway between Hodder Avenue and Highway 527 opened up this past weekend. The two lanes will eventually be the westbound section of the new four-lane highway.
But for now the section is being used for both directions of traffic while the two eastbound lanes are upgraded and re-aligned.
Meanwhile, the entrance to Copenhagen Road, which has been closed since late June, should re-open at the end of this week. Construction on the new highway overpass at Hodder Avenue will begin by this fall, with the entire project to be completed in 2012.
