THUNDER BAY — The Ontario government's decision to expand the sale of alcoholic beverages to nearly 300 additional stores includes the approval of new outlets in the Thunder Bay region.
The LCBO's agency store program will be extended to locations in Rosslyn, Hymers, Nolalu, Cloud Bay and Red Rock.
Other new outlets in northwestern Ontario include the communities of Barwick, Eagle River and Oxdrift.
They will operate as "LCBO Convenience Outlets."
The government announcement did not include projected opening dates for each location, but said up to 60 new LCBO outlets will open across the province in August, with all 200 new openings to be completed by the spring of 2020.
Thursday's announcement also laid out a plan to allow 87 more grocery stores across Ontario to sell wine, beer and cider, starting in September.
Interested grocers must participate in a lottery.
