THUNDER BAY – Novemburger's success has paved the way for a new food-based fundraising campaign that aims to help the United Way of Thunder Bay and programs such as Our Kids Count.
For the Love of Pizza is a brand new campaign featuring 14 restaurants to serve customers who are hungry for yet another delicious way to raise money for children, youth, and families in the community.
“Not only is this a great way to support charity, it’s also good business for participating restaurants," said Albert Brulé, chief executive officer of the United Way of Thunder Bay.
From Feb. 9 to 29, residents can help out by ordering a specialty pizza from one of the 14 restaurants - Dawson General Store, the Industry Social House, Station 22 by Daytona's, Golden Bakery & Pizza, Franki's Pizza, Tomlin Subdivision, Metropolitan Moose, Po's Variety, Lento Wood Fired Pizza, Delaqua's Panzerotti Pizzeria, Eat Local Pizza, Gallucci's, Angelo's Pizza and Sub, and Pizza Hut with four locations.
By participating, $2 from every pizza and $0.50 from every slice sold throughout the month will be donated to Our Kids Count.
“We couldn’t be more thrilled to partner with the United Way on this fundraiser," said Jackie Knough, executive director of Our Kids Count.
"Our Kids Count has run an annual Pizza Tuesday campaign for the last several years - so instead of duplicating, joining forces made a lot of sense."
