THUNDER BAY — The minister of justice and attorney general of Canada, Arif Virani, has announced the appointment of a new regional senior judge for Northwestern Ontario.
W. Danial Newton's appointment as regional senior judge of the Superior Court of Justice was announced Tuesday.
Justice Newton replaces Justice B.R. Warkentin, who returned to the regular complement of active judges in January of this year.
Newton graduated from the Osgoode Hall Law School in 1982 and was admitted to the bar in Ontario in 1984.
Newton was appointed to the Superior Court of Justice in 2014.
At the time, he was practicing civil litigation as a partner with CARREL + Partners LLP in Thunder Bay.
He also served as a clinical instructor in the Lakehead University faculty of law.
