No injuries following transport truck rollover on Highway 17

Highway conditions remain icy following the most recent snowstorm.

THUNDER BAY - Motorists should exercise caution on area roadways, as icy conditions remain prevalent across the region.

An east bound transport truck slid off Highway 17 just north of the Terry Fox monument early Tuesday morning at approximately 4 a.m. onto the median and ended up on its side. Ontario Provincial Police, Superior North EMS, and Shuniah Fire Services were called to the scene.

No other vehicles were involved and the two occupants of the transport truck were able to crawl free from the vehicle and there were no reports of injuries.

There is no word yet on the cause of the rollover, but conditions are icy on area highways following the most recent snowstorm. In a separate incident, a dump truck also slid off the Highway near Birch Beach Road.
