THUNDER BAY – The rain may help the forest fire situation in the Northwest Region.

However, the early going is proving to be fairly tame without the weather getting involved.

According to Aviation, Forest Fire and Emergency Services, there were three new wildland fires confirmed since the organization released its previous update late last week.

All three fires, one in the Thunder Bay area and two others in Kenora, were confirmed and are now considered to be out.

There are currently no active forest fires in the region.
