North Stars double up Bombers to complete sweep

THUNDER BAY – The weekend sweep is complete.

The Thunder Bay North Stars on Sunday won their third straight conquest over the visiting Sioux Lookout Bombers, a team that arrived at Fort William Gardens on Friday night with zero regulation losses.

E.J. Paddington scored twice for Thunder Bay, giving him eight on the season, as the Stars (8-4-0) captured their seventh straight triumph and solidified their hold on fourth place in the Superior International Junior Hockey League standings.

Defenceman Maxwell Buffone, with his first in a North Stars uniform, and Easton Mikus, with his 12th of the season, also scored for Thunder Bay.

Blake Burke and Jonah Smith had the tallies for the second-year Bombers (9-3-1).

Keenan Marks made 29 saves to earn the win in nets for Thunder Bay, while Jack Osmond took the loss, facing 48 shots in the matinee contest.

Wisconsin 4, Dryden 2: Kaden Postal and Dillon Phillips scored second-period goals for the Lumberjacks and Connor Corocoran iced it with another in the third as Wisconsin knocked off the top-ranked team in the SIJHL. McLaren Paulsen and Max Roby scored for Dryden.
