North Stars edge Bombers at home

THUNDER BAY – The Thunder Bay North Stars picked up a crucial, late-season win over a team they’re chasing in the standings.

Jarred Feist scored what proved to be the game-winner just eight seconds into the third period on Saturday night, earning the North Stars a 3-2 win over the visiting Sioux Lookout Bombers at Fort William Gardens.

It was Feist’s second of the night and eighth of the season, his first goal of the game knotting the score at a goal apiece at 10:03 of the second.

Peter Forester had Thunder Bay’s other goal.

Jonah Smith scored the first Sioux Lookout tally, beating Keenan Marks at 8:07 of the first. Sage Roberts cut Thunder Bay’s lead to one with 34 seconds to go in regulation.

Matthew Spencer-Dahl took the loss in nets for the Bombers, stopping 27 of 30 North Stars shots. Marks made 25 saves to pick up the win, giving him a 13-8-2 record on the season.

Fort Frances 3, Dryden 3: Emerson Evans scored the lone goal of the third period to earn the Lakers a point against the front-running Ice Dogs. Evan Mayer, Rylan Oatman and Max Roby scored for Dryden. Tie Schumacher and Ian Ness also tallied for Fort Frances.
