TORONTO — A couple from the Northern Ontario community of Noelville is celebrating a lottery win that will change their lives and the lives of their families.

Marc and Dorothy-Ann Meilleur each buy lottery tickets regularly.

In the February 26, 2021 Lotto Max draw, the OLG computer pulled the numbers of a ticket Marc purchased at a gas station in the town 80 kilometres south of Sudbury.

The 60-year-old retired mechanic checked his Quick Pick ticket several times, and even though the OLG lottery app on his phone showed "$70,000,000" on the screen, he still wasn't convinced he had won.

He said he went into the next room to tell his wife, but she thought he was joking.

The couple then visited the business where Marc had bought the ticket in order for it to be verified.

"I started crying tears of joy," Dorothy-Ann said.

Marc added "My mind was racing, and my hands were shaking, and I was wondering what to do next."

The couple has three children, seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

"As a parent, you want to provide the best for your children, and now we can take care of them without worry," Marc said.

The couple plans to travel across Canada in a new RV when it's safe to do so, but will also help their children buy new homes and vehicles.
