People looking to direct health-care policy in Northwestern Ontario now have their chance.
The Northwest Local Health Integration Network has launched a survey from Aug. 20 to Sept. 14 to find out how it’s doing, what its focus should be and where it should look in the future. The information will be used as the Northwest LHIN develops its third three-year integrated health services plan for 2013.
“We’re asking them for input and advice on what healthcare should look like both today and in the future,” said Northwest LHIN CEO Laura Kokocinski.
During the last survey in 2009, more than 800 people responded. The feedback from that survey led to investments in health care to keep seniors at home.
Kokocinksi points to more home care services and places like Wesway as examples.
“We’re really trying to work on are we putting resources in the right place,” she said.
With 14 LHINs across the province, it’s important that the province hears about regional needs Kokocinksi said. It will focus on four key areas that have been identified in the past as needs.
The accelerated integration of services, improved access to care, improved coordination of mental health and addiction services and chronic disease prevention and management.
