THUNDER BAY – Thunder Bay’s newest splash pad at the Northwood Playfield on James Street will be available for children to enjoy over the Labour Day weekend.

“We’re happy to make the Northwood splash pad available for the kids this weekend, even though some of the finishing touches are yet to be added,” said Cory Halvorsen, manager of the City’s Parks and Open Spaces. “On the last few days before school begins, we hope lots of children will enjoy the new splash pad.”

An official grand opening of the splash pad is planned for the 2022 season once all site furnishings and themed items are present and complete.
The Northwood splash pad is open for use today, Friday, Sept. 3, as well as Saturday, Sunday, and Monday, from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m.

The splash pad at Prince Arthur’s Landing closes Sunday, Sept. 5, at 8 p.m., while the other City splash pads at County Park, Franklin Street Park and North End Park, close for the season Monday, Sept. 6, at 8 p.m.
