THUNDER BAY – A well-known local physician is packing up his doctor’s bag and calling it a career.
Dr. Jack Remus on Thursday announced after 50 years of practicing medicine in Thunder Bay, including 30 years providing priority services to inmates at the Thunder Bay District Jail and the Thunder Bay Correctional Centre, he’s decided to retire.
Remus, a staunch supporter of the Thunder Bay and District Humane Society, also provided medical service for Veteran’s Affairs and was the commanding officer of the 18th Field Hospital as well as a member of the Toronto Scottish Regiment, among his other achievements.
“I have decided to retire, but will bring in highly qualified medical specialists to see and treat the large number of patients in my medical practice, as well as the large number of industries – forestry, mining, transportation and energy – which have enrolled in my occupational medical practice,” Remus said in a release announcing his decision to step away.
“Although I am retired from my medical practice, I will continue to work at the Ridgeway Clinic to facilitate the transfer of my patients and industry clients to a new physician.”
Patient files will be kept at the Ridgeway Clinic and anyone with questions or concerns may phone 623-7252.
