Notorious downtown hotel temporarily closed

A north side hotel has temporarily closed this week.

THUNDER BAY -- A downtown north side hotel has temporarily closed its door this week.

The Midtown Inn on Cumberland Street has a sign posted on its door saying the hotel is closed.

All short term guests have been removed from the building by management, according to multiple guests.

The four-storey building formerly known as the Shoreline Hotel tried to rebrand the premises with new ownership and management last year.

In recent months, a high number of incidents have occurred at the hotel, including drug busts, and at least one murder.

Attempts to contact the local general manager have been unsuccessful.

The Toronto based building owner would offer up no information at this time, other than the closure being temporary.

He did promise to meet with TBT News when he arrives in Thunder Bay next week, with more updates to follow.

The Beacon Restaurant located in the same building is still open for deliveries.
