The Northwestern Health Unit reported three COVID-19 cases over the weekend, with its active case count remaining low at 21.
There were two new cases in the NWHU’s Sioux Lookout health hub, and one in its Kenora hub.
Of the 21 cases active across the health unit, 14 were in the Kenora hub, 6 in the Sioux Lookout hub, and a single case in the Atikokan hub.
The decline of active cases in recent weeks led NWHU medical officer of health Dr. Kit Young Hoon to recommend reopening schools to the province earlier this week.
There were two NWHU residents in hospital with the virus Sunday, unchanged from the previous day.
The health unit has reported a total of 1,065 confirmed cases since the pandemic began. Of those, 21 were active Sunday while 1,044 were considered resolved, including seven deaths in which the virus was an underlying or contributing factor.
