The home construction season is winding down in Thunder Bay, and new statistics from the Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation shows local housing starts are slowing down more than usual.
According to the CMHC, there were just 15 new single-detached home starts in October.
That's six fewer than October 2012, and it's also below the 10-year average for that month.
The 15 starts brings the total for the year-to-date to 168. That's slightly behind last year's pace of 183.
But for multi-unit residences, it continues to be a good year for construction.
There were six more multi-unit starts in October. That brings the total for the year to 131, which is 10 more than last year in Thunder Bay.
