THUNDER BAY — Police say a Toronto man has been identified as the victim of the city's latest homicide, but his name isn't yet being publicly released.

The Thunder Bay Police Service issued an update on Thursday, nearly a week after the victim's body was found in a home in the 300 block of Ogden Street on Sunday.

Police said an autopsy has been completed and the scene has been released. The victim's name is being withheld as investigators continue to liaise with family, police added.

Earlier this week, investigators confirmed the case was a shooting death and it was suspected to be related to ongoing drug activity.

As of Monday, Thunder Bay Police Service Det.-Insp. Jeremy Pearson said the investigative theory was that the incident was "not a random act and is not someone at-large with random ill intent."

No information has been provided about whether any suspects have been identified or apprehended.

Police are asking anyone that has home or business surveillance video, or dash camera footage, from the 300-block area of Ogden Street, near the corner of Ogden and McMurray Streets, between 8 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 14 and 10 a.m. on Sunday, Oct. 15 that may be of assistance to come forward.

The death is the sixth reported homicide in Thunder Bay in 2023.
