THUNDER BAY – One of the four people accused in the 2022 shooting death of 29-year-old Adrian Anthony Richardson has pleaded guilty to manslaughter.

Jacob Green, 22, of Thunder Bay entered the guilty plea in a Thunder Bay courtroom on Monday. The plea was entered for the purpose of ordering a pre-sentence report with a Gladue component. No facts were read into the record.

Green was arrested on June 12, 2022 by the Thunder Bay Police Service and charged with first-degree murder.

The charges followed an investigation into a shooting the night of May 2, 2022 in the 400 block of Hodder Avenue.

Police responded to the area at approximately 11:30 p.m. and located a man with serious injuries from what was called a shooting incident.

The man, later identified as Richardson, was pronounced dead from his injuries at the scene.

As the investigation continued, in June 2022 police arrested 22-year-old Aiden Dermid Collander, 31-year-old Henok Daniel Banjaw, both of Thunder Bay, and 24-year-old Telique Rickets of Toronto. All three were charged with first-degree murder.

Green’s matter is scheduled to return to court in September for an update on the pre-sentence and Gladue report before a sentencing date is set. Given the guilty plea to the charge of manslaughter, the first-degree murder charge was marked withdrawn by the Crown.

A preliminary hearing for the three remaining co-accused on charges of first-degree murder is expected to open at the end of the month.
