One person hospitalized after Broadway garage fire

Firefighters responded to the fire, which broke out just before midnight on Thursday.

THUNDER BAY — One person was sent to hospital after a garage and vehicle fire broke out on the south side of the city on Thursday night.

According to a release issued by Thunder Bay Fire Rescue on Friday, crews arrived on scene just before midnight, and immediately received reports of an injured individual.

A rapid-fire attack was initiated, with firefighters applying water through multiple openings in a detached garage.

The quick action suppressed the fire structural and allowed crews to concentrate on the vehicle fire. The vehicle had been removed from the garage.

The rear of the garage suffered extensive damage, with the rest of the garage limited to mild smoke and water damage.

Paramedics assessed the victim on scene and took them to hospital for further treatment.

The Incident occurred in the 2000 block of Broadway Avenue.

Firefighters remind the public not to re-enter a burning building once they have evacuated.
