THUNDER BAY -  The Ontario courts are working to make daily court dockets available online again.

The online daily lists were temporarily suspended last month in response to the province's court system reducing operations in connection with COVID-19.

As of March 28, courtrooms across Ontario are closed to everyone but essential staff according to a memo posted on the Ontario Court of Justice website. Crown attorneys, defence counsel and accused persons have been appearing remotely by audio or video teleconferencing.

For the past few weeks, courts have been only dealing with the most urgent matters in bail and plea courts for people in custody.

A recent notice on the daily court docket website says the Courts are currently trying to provide lists online on a limited basis.

As of Monday, the only Superior Court of Justice hearing information available online for criminal matters is for the Toronto area. Physical copies of the daily dockets are still being posted inside courthouses, however.

“The Court is currently working to make daily court lists in other regions and areas of responsibility available. It will post them once it is able to do so,” the advisory reads.

The Ontario Court of Justice is also working to making hearing information available as quickly as possible, according to the website.
