Ontario Liberals to hold leadership debate in Thunder Bay

The leadership race has five registered candidates — Mississauga mayor Bonnie Crombie, Beaches-East York MP Nate Erskine-Smith, Kingston and the Islands MPP Ted Hsu, Ottawa Centre MP Yasir Naqvi, and Don Valley East MPP Adil Shamji.

THUNDER BAY — The first of five debates featuring the candidates to be the next leader of the Ontario Liberals will take place in Thunder Bay.

The party on Tuesday released its schedule of leadership debates, which includes the first forum, scheduled for Sept. 14 in Northwestern Ontario.

Subsequent debates will be held through the following weeks, in Stratford, Toronto, Ottawa, and Brampton.

The party has five registered candidates — Mississauga mayor Bonnie Crombie, Beaches-East York MP Nate Erskine-Smith, Kingston and the Islands MPP Ted Hsu, Ottawa Centre MP Yasir Naqvi, and Don Valley East MPP Adil Shamji.

Candidates have until Sept. 5 to enter the race.

Voting will take place in late November, with the winner set to be announced on Dec. 2.
