The Ontario Northland Transportation Commission will increase westbound service to Winnipeg and eastbound service to Thunder Bay from two to six days a week.
It will also provide new stops in Emo, Fort Frances and Atikokan.
Northern Development Minister Greg Rickford made the announcement Tuesday in Fort Frances.
"Expanding bus service to Atikokan, Fort Frances and Emo, and the communities in between, will connect residents to health and retail services, and better connect friends and family across our vast region," the MPP for Kenora-Rainy River said in a statement.
The new route through the District of Rainy River will provide eastbound service three days a week, and westbound service from Thunder Bay three days a week.
Chad Evans, the acting ONTC president and CEO, said that as the economy is reopened, "we are seeing more people across our region riding our buses and trains."
In May, ONTC launched twice-weekly service linking Thunder Bay to Winnipeg via Dryden and Kenora.
It also introduced thrice-weekly service between Thunder Bay and White River.

Kasper Transportation of Thunder Bay also runs bus service in Northwestern Ontario.
Owner Kasper Wabinski is expected to comment on the ONTC announcement shortly.
