OPP arrest driver on impaired charge

OPP found the driver had open alcohol in the vehicle.

THUNDER BAY — A driver faces charges after police observed a vehicle being driven erratically and at a high rate of speed last week.

During dinner hour Saturday night, Ontario Provincial Police stopped a vehicle along Highway 11/17 near Red River Road. 

Officers determined the driver to be intoxicated, and was subsequently arrested and charged with impaired driving as well as having open liquor in the vehicle. 

A 45-year-old from Longlac has since been released from custody and has a court date in January 2024.
