THUNDER BAY — OPP laid several impaired driving charges in what they describe as "a concerning weekend" in the Thunder Bay area.

Early Sunday morning, members of the Shabaqua detachment were called to investigate a report of a vehicle in the ditch on Highway 11 in the Shebandowan area.

They found the driver and passenger of the vehicle were both uninjured, but administered a test to the driver after determining he might be impaired by alcohol.

After further testing at the Thunder Bay detachment, a 28-year-old man from Fort Frances was charged.

Twenty-four hours later, OPP received a second report of a vehicle in the ditch, this time on Highway 590 in O'Connor Township.

The  driver was injured and taken to hospital by paramedics for treatment.

The 23-year-old Kenora man was also charged with impaired driving.

In a third incident, early Monday morning patrolling officers observed a vehicle weaving across the centre lines and fog lines (the lines along the side of a road) of Highway 11/17 in the Thunder Bay area.

This time a 40-year old man from Thunder Bay was charged with impaired driving.

All three drivers received a 90-day administrative driver's licence suspension and had their vehicle impounded for seven days.
