OPP Investigate fatal motor vehicle crash

OPP News Release

(FORT FRANCES, ON) – On July 19, 2015 at 2:55 am, officers from the Rainy River District Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) and Rainy River District Emergency Medical Services (EMS) were dispatched to the scene of a serious motor vehicle collision on Highway 613 South involving one motor vehicle near Hughes Road.   

The collision occurred when the driver of a pickup truck entered the ditch causing the motor vehicle to roll, and the driver was ejected. The driver was transported to hospital where he later succumbed to his injuries. 

The deceased has been identified as Tyson Romyn, age 26 years of Alberton Township. 

A post mortem examination is scheduled for July 20, 2015 at the Lake of the Woods District Hospital in Kenora, ON. 

The scene has been released.  OPP continue to work in conjunction with the Regional Coroner’s Office, OPP Technical Traffic Collision Investigators and the OPP North West Region Highway Safety Division to investigate the collision.
