OPP investigate unprovoked assault in Kenora

(KENORA, ON)  Members of the Kenora Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) with the assistance of the Northwest Region Crime Unit are seeking the public’s assistance in relation to an unprovoked assault that occurred in the City of Kenora.

On Wednesday February 24, 2016 at approximately 7:00 p.m, a 59 year old male was walking on Fifth Ave south in front of the Knox Church and was approached and assaulted by another male.

The suspect is described as being in his late teens, First Nations, 6 feet tall, slim build with short brown hair. The suspect was also with a female.

There were bystanders who assisted the assaulted male during the altercation.  The male sustained minor injuries.

The Kenora OPP would like the witnesses to contact Detective Sergeant Jeff Duggan at (807) 548-5534 with any information regarding the assault or contact Crimestoppers at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS).

The investigation is continuing.
