OPP, MTO crack down on commercial vehicle safety

OPP and Ministry of Transportation conducted the enforcement on Wednesday and Thursday on the Highway 102 and Dawson Road route in Thunder Bay

THUNDER BAY — A two-day commercial vehicle blitz has led to several vehicles being taken out of service, along with 126 total charges.

Provincial police said the OPP and Ministry of Transportation conducted the enforcement on Wednesday and Thursday on the Highway 102 and Dawson Road corridor in Thunder Bay.

Police said 15 commercial vehicles were taken out of service for safety-related defects.

Charges laid include load security, improper braking systems, weight restrictions, trip inspection reports, speeding, and a dangerous goods violation.
