OPP recover 63-year-old's body from Marmion Lake

ATIKOKAN –  Members of the Rainy Rivers District Detachment of the OPP as well as a Conservation Officer from the MNRF recovered the remains of Nicolas Fox Friday afternoon.

Officers from the Atikokan Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a call for assistance on Marmion Lake early Thursday evening.

A 63-year-old male from Ballwin Missouri had entered the water to retrieve a boat, the male subsequently went underwater and did not surface.

Police are currently at the scene along with the Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry (MNRF) conducting a search of the area.

The OPP Underwater Search and Recovery Unit (USRU) have been called in to assist and should arrive sometime today. 

 

A post mortem examination will be conducted in Thunder Bay on Monday June 6.
