FORT FRANCES, Ont. — A rash of collisions with moose on area highways has prompted Ontario Provincial Police to issue a caution to motorists.

OPP say that in the Atikokan area alone, six moose were killed by collisions with vehicles in a seven-day period.

Police did not indicate whether any people were seriously hurt.

In a statement, they said it's important to watch for animals on the road at all times, but particularly between dusk and dawn.

"If you have passengers in your vehicle, ask them to help you look for wildlife on and alongside the highway," the statement said.
