THUNDER BAY – A COVID-19 outbreak has been declared at Southbridge Pinewood after a staff member recently tested positive for the virus.

A single case is the threshold to declare an outbreak in Ontario nursing homes. The outbreak is on the Kingfisher Unit only.

This allows outbreak management measures to be put in place to contain any further spread and provide increased infection prevention.

The Thunder Bay District Health Unit said the Walsh Street facility was among the initial roll-out of the COVID-19 vaccination program.
