Outbreaks declared at Kingsway Park, Westgate

Both schools will remain open, with students in the affected classrooms sent home until deemed safe to return.

THUNDER BAY – COVID-19 outbreaks have been declared at two more public board schools.

The Thunder Bay District Health Unit on Friday announced outbreaks at Westgate Collegiate and Vocational Institute and Kingsway Park Public School.

Neither school is being closed, but an outbreak is only declared when it’s believed spread has occurred in the school.

At Westgate, a fourth individual has tested positive and the infection was deemed to have occurred at the school.

At both schools, only students in classrooms having close contact with the individual will be sent home. They’ll be required to stay home until the risk period has passed.
