Outdoor pools, beaches and splash pads will close soon

The release said city staff will perform maintenance on these amenities in the off-season to prepare them for next year.

THUNDER BAY – With fall quickly approaching, the city will begin closing outdoor pools, beaches and splash pads, a media release said.

Sandy Beach at Chippewa Park and the Main Beach at Boulevard Lake are closing on Saturday, followed by Widnall and Heath pools on Sunday.

Splash pads close for the season at Franklin Street Park and North End Park on Monday, followed by the splash pads at County Park and Northwood Playfield on Sept. 15. The Marina Park splash pad will close on Sept. 16, the release said.

Indoor pools will close on Monday and begin fall hours on Tuesday, with the exception of Volunteer Pool, which closed unexpectedly Wednesday and is expected to open on Wesnesday.
