THUNDER BAY – Motorists in Thunder Bay may want to replan their late-night travel for the remainder of the week.

The city on Wednesday announced overnight construction will close the intersection at Memorial Avenue and the Harbour Expressway.

The closures will be in effect from 7 p.m. to 7 a.m. from Wednesday through Saturday morning.

Delays will continue at the intersection during the daytime hours, starting on July 29, with some lane closures in place as crews complete concrete work and other boulevard restoration.

The overnight work is to allow for the installation of new traffic signals and repaving.

The intersection will again be closed overnight, from 7 p.m. to 7 a.m., starting on Tuesday, Aug. 6, with work expected to conclude on the morning of Saturday, Aug. 10.

The second closures are necessary to complete the work on the intersection, including the removal of existing poles and concrete, new concrete work, boulevard restoration and repaving of the intersection.
