THUNDER BAY — City police arrested two novice drivers over the weekend for stunt driving and driving under the influence.

Early Sunday morning, just before 2 a.m., Thunder Bay Police Service officers observed two vehicles travelling at a high rate of speed along Memorial Avenue.

Const. Tom Armstrong said in a Facebook post that these drivers broke a number of laws with this stunt.

Both drivers will be facing several charges, including stunt driving, driving under the influence, as well as charges relating to being a novice driver and having alcohol in their systems.

Armstrong expressed his aggravation that in one vehicle, there was a passenger who was a sober and licensed driver, yet that driver chose to drive under the influence.

In Ontario, it is illegal for novice drivers and drivers 21 years old and younger to have alcohol and/or THC in their systems when driving.
