THUNDER BAY – On Friday, the city provided an update about the closure of the parking lot at Junot Park.
The closure will only be on weekdays from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. On-street parking is available in the surrounding area.
According to an updated media release from the city, the improvements include installation of a pedestrian crossover linking to the park, replacement of sidewalks on both sides of Junot Avenue between Red River Road and Stardust Crescent, and replacement of ramps on a walkway on Melon Street.
"After the crossover is installed, the parking lot will also be restored, with the addition of some new pedestrian connections," the release said.
The parking lot will reopen when work on the crossover is complete, expected to be by mid-August.
Junot Park remains open to the public.
The city’s newest pedestrian crossover will "provide a safe, on-demand crossing for pedestrians visiting Junot Park and making other trips in the area," the release said.
The crossover will span Junot Avenue at Melon Street.
