Part of Hwy 17 closed after serious collision near Ignace

IGANCE — OPP have closed part of Highway 17, west of Ignace because of a serious collision.

Police are currently investigating a two-vehicle collision that occurred early Thursday morning.

Shortly after 3:30 a.m., officers and Fire and Emergency Medical Services responded to a collision involving two commercial motor vehicles on Highway 17 west of the township of Ignace.

As a result, Highway 17 is currently closed between Shabaqua Corners through the township of Ignace and up to Highway 622.

Motorists are urged to avoid the area and plan alternative routes.

The highway will remain closed until further notice, with updates provided as they become available.

Police appreciate the public's patience and cooperation during this time.
